Surrendering a Pet

Due to limited resources and the number of animals we must rescue from life-threatening situations, we are unable to accept surrendered pets.

In some circumstances we may be able to post information about your pet to help you find a home.  You would need to send us a photo and detailed information concerning the animal's behaviour, including its gender, age, weight, relationship with kids/cats/dogs, vet history, training, and other characteristics.  (See our postings for examples.)  Please also include a description of why you must find a new home for your pet.  Someone from GRAB will contact you to let you know if you are eligible to be posted on our website.

If your animal is pure bred, you might want to contact a rescue that specializes in your breed.  We have a list of reputable rescues in our Web Links section.

If you are facing behavioral issues with your animal, we may be able to help counsel you through these.  You could also consult www.wonderpuppy.net or www.pets.ca for more information.  Most behavioral issues can be solved and your pet reintegrated into your family.  You might also seek the help of a reputable animal trainer who can work with you, your pet and your family more extensively.

GRAB promotes responsible pet ownership.  We believe that pets are permanent members of the family.  Please, do not adopt (or purchase) a pet unless you are certain they will remain with you for the duration of their life and that you will be able to look after their needs.  If you are not certain you can make this lifet-time commitment, consider being a foster parent.  You can make a huge contribution, save an animal's life, and enjoy the company of that animal at the same time.
