I'm Hazel! An energetic one year old female beagle looking for a home that will appreciate me for everything I am, and everything I can be. The first year of my life didn't teach me about living in a home environment, so I still have a lot to learn. My foster family is showing me that it is okay to sleep in a crate, go to the bathroom outside, and how to walk on leash. I am having so much fun here with a big fenced yard to play in, and other dogs to race around and wrestle with. When we get tired, I love a good cuddle and nap on the couch. I get along well with everyone here - even the cat likes me! My perfect home would be one with a fully fenced yard, and patient, fun loving humans. I would be okay as an only dog, but do really enjoy playing with other dogs. I love everyone I meet, but am nervous around children. I just need some love and guidance to be a great part of your family.

| Duchess - ADOPTION PENDING!!

SADLY DUCHESS TESTED POSITIVE FOR HEARTWORM. SHE WILL BE UNDERGOING TREATMENT STARTING IMMEDIATELY. SHE WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION IN A FEW MONTHS. IF YOU ARE ABLE TO DONATE TO HER TREATMENT, PLEASE CONTACT US!
Meet gorgeous Duchess! This lovely lady found herself living in a situation that was not healthy for her. One of our wonderful volunteers offered to take her in as a foster, so we were able to bring her into our program. (Click Here for another photo of Duchess)
Duchess is a yellow labrador mix and she is approximately 40 lbs. She is 1 years old. Duchess has a wonderful personality, and she gets along very well with other dogs, cats and kids! She is in a foster home with all three, so she will be well socialized! Duchess is also housetrained.
Duchess is the daughter to Amylee on our site. Duchess is very sweet and submissive, but is nervous of new people at first. She would prefer a home where people are around a lot as she loves people attention. She would not do well in a home where she is left 8 hours a day every day. Duchess needs a backyard to run in and is still working on how to walk on leash as she is frightened of the road. She does better on trail walks away from traffic. Duchess would love to live with other dogs or be an only dog as long as she had the opportunity to play with other dogs as she enjoys this. She enjoys chewing on her toys, so plenty of chew toys are appreciated for Duchess. She is housetrained. Duchess has had a hard beginning to her life and she deserves a loving and patient home who can give her lots of attention. She would do well with kids, cats or dogs.
Duchess is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed rescue. Please fill out an application at our website www.grandriverallbreedrescue.ca or phone us at 519-650-9228. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com |

Meet beautiful Amylee! Amylee is a lovely girl who was living in a situation where she was continually allowed to get pregnant. She is the mother of Duchess (also available for adoption) as well as a recent litter of pups (including Zagidiwin, also available for adoption!) Luckily for Amylee, this will be her last litter, as we will be getting her spayed shortly, and she will be ready for her forever home.
Amylee has been in a wonderful foster home that has given her many opportunities for socialization. She is great with other dogs, cats, and kids, and she is housetrained and walks well on the leash. She loves going for walks and she loves attention! She will make a wonderful pet.
Amylee is 3 years old and is a labrador mix.

Clyde (aka Spike...Spike didn't suit him!) is a 3 year old male yellow labrador retriever. He is looking for a home due to his family's relocation and their inability to take him with them. He weighs approximately 60 lbs.
Update from Clyde's foster mom: "Clyde is a lovely boy he settles well in the house and can left with full run of the house when you go out. He is not too keen on you leaving but once you go he is fine. He loves to wrestle and play chase with other dogs and at the moment he is living with four others. He walks well on his easy walk harness. Like any Lab he needs his daily exercise to keep him healthy and happy. On a nice day he likes nothing better than to lay out in the sun in the yard He lives with cats at the moment and he can be a little enthusiastic with them when he first meets them until he learns whether they want to play or not. He is very sweet natured and likes to settle down beside the bed at night to sleep, he loves a fuss and being brushed. When he gets excited he can jump up and be a little mouthy but once he is either redirected to a toy or a stern aha makes him think about what he is doing he will stop himself. All in all this guy is one lovely good natured typical Labrador."
Clyde will benefit from basic obedience, and is hoping to find a home that will take him to training!

Hi my name is Leo. I cannot believe I have been with the rescue a year now. I love my foster mom but would really like my own forever home.
I am 8 years old but I love to walk and play fetch my foster mom says I have the energy of a 4 year old. I have lots of love and would make a great companion to anyone looking for an all around great dog.
I walk well on my collar and leash but may need the Gentle Leader when I am first getting used to a new area.
If we are in the house though I settle down preferably beside you if I can and if you are not too busy I like to lay my head on your lap and get a fuss.
I am good when I am left but would prefer a home that does not leave me alone for long hours on a daily basis.
I live with other dogs and cats. I don’t mind them at all. I would rather be with my human though and play with them.
I know I have Perianal Fistulas which is like a human with chrohns disease but I do not notice it. The half a steroid every other day along with my Fish and sweet potato diet keeps it under control.
I can’t wait to hear from you,
Love Leo.

Kelly is looking for a new foster or forever home as her current foster is no longer able to look after her.
Meet Kelly! She is an approximately 5 year old Hound cross who was abandoned at a shelter after an encounter with a porcupine! Ouch! This girl has been treated and has recovered and is now looking for a forever home.
She is a friendly and affectionate low energy dog that enjoys laying around on the couch. She would do best in a home with older children and no other pets. Kelly is housetrained and knows lots of commands, including sit, stay, lie down, shake a paw, come, fetch, and roll over. She is very good to walk on her harness, and doesn't pull. Kelly was not socialized well, and originally did not greet strangers at the door very well. Her foster mom is working very hard with her now, and she is doing much better with greeting new people. She has learned not to bark at delivery people in her apartment building, and is generally doing very well with her socialization and training. She is a very sweet dog and is quite loveable.
Kelly is available for adoption through Grand River All-Breed Animal Rescue! If you are interested in her, please visit our website: www.grandriverallbreedrescue.ca or phone us at 519-650-9228. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com
