Meet Lance. Lance will be 9 years old this May but he still has his young, fun personality. He is approximately 55 lbs. He originally came to us a few years ago from Windosr Humane society and was returned due to his adoptors starting a family sooner than expected. Lance is an eager to please, loving dog who does really well with commands, sit, stay, down, come and paw (especially when there is a treat involved). Lance would do best in a quiet single dog home of 1-2 people, with no small children or cats.
Lance loves hikes and walks and does really well walking on his gentle leader. He is quite obedient and will sit and patiently wait to cross the street. Lance does have a thing for squirrels though and all his leash manners tend to go out the window when he sees them. He has done some off leash hikes in the forest and has great recall, he may stray away to explore but never goes too far and always comes when called. He has a history of being aggressive towards other dogs although his foster mom has yet to see it, moving off the sidewalk or trail to let the other dog pass he seems indifferent but sometimes curious, distracting him with a treat or two helps.
Lance gets anxious in busy situations. He doesn't like when there is a lot going on with people interacting, it stresses him out. His anxiety is demonstrated in whining, spinning in circles, and jumping up when he gets really worked up. He has a thunder shirt that he can wear when visitors come over which does help to keep him a bit calmer.
Lance does great in the car. In his current foster home he is left free to roam while his foster mom is at work and is just content to sleep or chew on his bone. Lance loves snuggles and is very content just snuggling up on the couch and watching a movie.his own.
Lance is available for adoption together through Grand River All Breed rescue. The adoption donation is $400. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you'd like to adopt, please fill out an application.
