Sarah

Sarah was born on April 16, 2019 in the outdoors as part of a feral colony.  She was brought inside to a foster home at six weeks of age.  Sarah is a special kitten in that she has “Cerebellar Hypoplasia”.  This is a neurological issue that causes her to have unsteadiness and head bobbing while she walks.  There is no treatment for this disease; the condition is permanent; however, the symptoms should not worsen and do not affect the quality or length of her life.  Because she doesn’t know any different, she does not let this stop her.  She still plays with the other foster cats in the home and is quite affectionate.  Her foster mom thinks it just makes her extra cute!  Sarah eats both wet and dry food and has no issues with the litter box. She enjoys playing with her toys and especially likes the laser pointer. Sarah will need a home where she isn’t going to be susceptible to falling downstairs – she would be a perfect apartment or bungalow cat.  She can climb, and is often in the cat tree, but she loses balance and does fall.

Sarah is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed rescue.  The adoption donation is $175. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Pearl & Cole

Pearl and her brother along with their 3 other siblings were born to a feral mom. A kind citizen brought her in when she started giving birth and one of our fosters opened up their home to mom and her kittens.

They were born on April 24 and are now 10 weeks old as of July 7/19.

Both Pearl and Cole were quite shy when they came to their current foster home but have come a long way and are now comfortable with the family and are starting to not be afraid of the two large dogs in the home.

Pearl is the more inquisitive one and she will come and see what is happening and Cole will follow.

Pearl has striking blue eyes and both her and Cole look like they will have medium hair.

Pearl and Cole are extremely bonded and follow each other around and are often found sleeping together. They spend a lot of their day playing and chasing each other.

Neither Pearl nor Cole are fond of being held but will come over for head and tummy scratches.
If you think your family is a good fit for these two lovely kittens please fill out an adoption application.

Pearl and Cole are available for adoption through Grand River All Breed rescue. The adoption donation is $175 each. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. Charly

My name is Charly and I am an 8 year old chocolate lab/Chesapeake bay retriever mix. I came all the way from Quebec where my owner surrendered me. I spent nearly 4 months in the shelter and am glad to finally be out and in a home environment.

I am still energetic at my age and my favorite things to do are to play fetch, go for walks and take car rides. I sit really well in the car and settle fairly quickly. On walks, I do really well with a harness and hardly pull at all. Walks that are 30+ minutes are best, and allow me to relax and settle in for the day or night at home.

I currently live with another dog and am learning my manners! I have energy to play, but I am quickly realizing when it’s time to call it quits. I’d love another home with an active dog, but it is not necessary. I also live with a 12 year old boy and 2 rabbits! I am curious about the rabbits… But they are pretty boring so I mostly ignore them. I’d do best in a home with kids 12+ since I am 90 lbs and still learning manners and to not jump up on people. I can get pretty excited meeting new people as well and need redirection sometimes to settle down. I am very food motivated though, so training has been a breeze. I’ll do anything for a treat and praise!

When I am at home, you can usually find me sleeping, exploring the backyard or enjoying a chew. I love chews and will need strong toys that will last! Although I am not a big fan of my crate, I am getting used to being in it during the day while my foster mom and dad are at work. At night, I settle in on the bed to sleep with the family and have freedom around the house. is available for adoption together through Grand River All Breed rescue. The adoption donation is $400. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. Simon [Ferret]

Simon is a baby ferret in need of a loving, experienced home. He was born in June, 2018. Simon has a huge heart and a goofy personality. He loves to run around and play and be silly, but he’s always very gentle with his people. He hasn’t needed any nip training at all!

Simon had a tricky start, born at a roadside zoo where he came down with a digestive infection that made it impossible for him to put on weight. He was 365g when he came to the rescue in August, about a third the size he should have been by that age. It was challenging to eradicate the infection, but after several rounds of treatments, he finally started bulking up! Simon is now over a kilo and is no longer having digestive issues. We suspect he has some minor damage to his digestive tract, causing very low level IBD, so new foods should be introduced with care. He has some supplements that will go with him when he gets adopted, and if he has a flare-up, a dose or two sets him right again. He’s doing very well on Wellness Core right now and hasn’t had a flare-up in weeks.

Simon lives with another ferret and a dog who he both adores. His ferret friend is senior, but Simon is mostly gentle and not too demanding. He and his dog sister will play wildly for hours! Simon needs a home with other ferrets, or at least other ferret-friendly pets, as he’s very active and social and needs a lot of attention and vigorous play. Like all ferrets, Simon needs a lot of time, a lot of cleaning, a lot of food, and will need specialized vet care. Ferrets can live up to ten years, and don’t do well on their own or left in a cage. Ferrets like to play very roughly and need friends that are down for some intense wrestling!

Simon is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed rescue.  The adoption donation is $170. All of our ferrets are spayed or neutered and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.
