Jaxx

Jaxx is a loveable 1.5 year old male border collie/ potcake mix. He is 70 lbs, tri-coloured and recently neutered. Jaxx is a real sweetheart with his humans. He loves giving kisses, going for walks and playing tug of war and fetch with his ball or toys. He also loves to relax with his humans on the couch or on the floor beside them. He loves his belly rubbed and having cuddle time. He is house trained and is usually food motivated. He has learned commands such as sit, down, stay, no, leave it, around, and up, but sometimes needs reminders. Jaxx picks up scents easily and loves to smell everything outside. When going for walks, he is still learning to heel. He has a tendency to pull when he catches a scent he wants to follow. He is dog reactive, so will bark and lunge when he sees other dogs approaching. He is showing progress in walking with a gentle lead. He is adored by his humans, unfortunately he has shown dog aggression with the other pets in his house and needs to be rehomed.

Jaxx would thrive in a quiet house with a backyard with high fences since he can jump fairly high when he gets excited. He loves to herd, so will keep birds, bunnies and squirrels off your property. He needs to be the only pet in the home with an experienced dog owner, He is great with kids older than 12 or will be just as happy in a home without children.

Jaxx does get nervous when meeting new people, so may bark at first. He can easily be won over with treats and a game of fetch with one of his toys. If you are looking for an amazing companion to share your life with, Jaxx may be the dog for you. He is super chill in his home and loves following his people everywhere. He is an endearing dog who will capture your heart and entertain you every day.

Jaxx is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $450 per dog. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Artemis [Courtesy Post]

Artemis is a beautiful 3 year old Tuxedo who has been raised since birth with our family. Born on April 18, 2020. Artemis is an indoor cat, has been fixed and is litter trained. Sadly, and with heavy hearts, we feel it would be best to re-home Artemis to give him the life he deserves. Artemis and my grandson who is on the spectrum, do not co-exist well together. We raise our grandson. Artemis will hiss at our grandson and is obviously anxious around him. Our grandson will walk backwards to avoid seeing the cat and forever obsesses “where’s the cat” It is clearly obvious that the two are very stressed out by one another. I want more for the both of them. This decision has not come lightly but I feel that there is better out there for Artemis and he deserves more than this. He is a lovely soul.

Artemis is being rehomed by his owners. This is a courtesy post on their behalf. If you’d like to adopt Artemis, you can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Beau [COURTESY]

We are posting Beau in an attempt to help his current owner who he is still with find an appropriate home:

Hello! This is Beau, and Beau is a miniature Bull Terrier who we adopted from a couple in Sudbury, Ontario end of August, 2022. Beau was diagnosed with Idiopathic lymphoplasmacytic rhinitis (LPR) is a common inflammatory disorder of the nasal cavity in dogs due to unknown etiology. It is characterised by non-specific clinical signs, including nose bleeds. This is being treated with Prednisone (steroid) until further diagnostics.

My husband, Sean and I, have two other dogs in the house, Pippa, a 9-year-old American Bull dog crossed with Australian Shepherd and Monty, a 1.5-year-old English Bull Terrier. The dogs got along fine in the beginning, but once Monty and Beau got to know each other more, the more they did not get along. Beau, Monty and Pippa have started getting into fights, to where I cannot have them together any longer.

I have had Beau in my care, being crated in our spare bedroom separate from our other dogs. I will separately take Beau out while Monty is crated. Beau goes for long walks in the morning and at night. I will take him out during the day for a bathroom break, but that’s as far as it can go, as the dogs cannot interact any longer. Beau needs to go to a home with no other dogs or children. He is a very good boy when it is just him, myself and my husband alone. He deserves a great home. Please let me know if you can help us.

If interested in this dog please let us know and we will put you in touch with the owner.

Lucy [Adopt or Foster]

Lucy’s family is moving out of the country soon and unable to take Lucy. They are heartbroken and would love to find her a loving home here in Ontario. If you are intersted in fostering or adopting Lucy please fill out our application. She will do best in a quiet home as the only pet but we can introduce her to other dogs to see if they get along if needed.

  • Here is some info on Lucy according to her family:
  • She is roughly 40lbs
  • We have had her since she was a pup. She was a rescue.
  • She is spayed.
  • She is scheduled for her vaccines this month.
  • She has had epilepsy from the beginning and was on medication but not now as we found the frequency of incidents was not affected either way.
  • She may go 1 to 2 months without any seizures and then 1 a week sometimes. She has no long lasting effects and within minutes is back up and running around.
  • She did live with a lab previously but needs introductions with other calm dogs.
  • She can be a bit nippy when irritated but that is seldom
  • She is house trained.

If you think you can provide a loving temporary or forever home for Lucy please apply!

Harry [ON HOLD]

Meet Harry! He is approximately 2 years old and a lab/neuf mix about 120 pounds. He is a big goof of a dog and is looking for his forever people.  He came from a home where he wasn’t able to get what he needed. He has lived with kids and cats before. He is currently in a foster home and has received vet care and is working on some basic training. Harry will need a home that has a fenced yard and people who are willing to work on his basic obedience training and exercise him daily. He is a young, fun dog who loves to be with his people. He is good with the dogs he has met.  Please read up on his breed before applying. He is in a foster home in Aurora.

Harry is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed rescue. The adoption donation is $400. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Lou [Adopt or Foster]

Meet Lou! She is approximately 4 years old. She is a lab mix and on the smaller side. Her DNA test said she is mixed with cocker spaniel and doberman. She goes to doggy daycare and enjoys confident calm dogs the most. She needs some work on leash as she can be reactive to other dogs when on leash. She is housetrained and can be left loose in the home fine when her people are working or out. Lou needs a quiet adult home where she has her own fenced yard and people who can be patient and work with her on her social skills. Lou can be fearful of new people and take some time to warm up to strangers. She has never lived with cats but will chase small animals outdoors.

Lou is looking for a foster or adoptive family.

Lou is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed rescue. The adoption donation is $400. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. Ivy is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. Sophie

Meet Sophie! She is 8mths old and will be one on Aug. 5th. Prince

Prince is a young, approximately 6 years old, Pomeranian who was taken to a shelter as a stray. He has a thick rusty brown coat and very unusual eyes. One eye is brown and the other is blue.  He will roll over for belly rubs. Playing ball is a favourite thing and running zomies in the yard. It is best to let Prince make friends with new people. He can be very reactive to a stranger attempting to handle him. But once he knows you, he is very sweet.

He likes to take special things under the couch to chew. He has been picking my coat pockets and disappearing with my gloves. Prince has made me a very tidy person as I now put everything away.  It is difficult to get things out of his mouth or away from him.

He enjoys daily walks and is doing well with a no-pull harness. He is housetrained. He plays with the resident cat and his foster sister, a Bichon. He can be rather rough and must be reminded to be gentle. Obedience classes would be a plus for this little man. Prince needs an adult only home with experienced dog owners due to the fact that he will show a possessive side where he will bare teeth and even nip.

He is definitely workable and will come around but working with a behaviorist for transitioning into a new home is recommended.

Prince is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed rescue.  The adoption donation is $400. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Willow

You’ll find her on any given day carrying around her toys in her mouth and bringing them to you ready to play. All her favourite toys, bed and baggy of food included. Willow would prefer to be the only pet in the house. If you would like to give her a loving home please apply.

Willow is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed rescue.  The adoption donation is $175. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Monty Vanderbilt

Monty is sweet adult male rat. He came from an animal hoarding situation with his brother, but it was discovered soon after that they were not getting along and were separated. Monty can get excited and nip (does not break the skin) his foster mom during play but is happy to be picked up and is learning his manners. He loves his out of cage time and currently lives in a foster home with cats and there have been no issues. He loves his spacepod, snuggle sacks, and always waits patiently for his morning snack. He is looking for some friends to play with as he is a bit lonely being a solo rat.

Monty is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed rescue.  The adoption donation is $20. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Claire

Panda

Panda is an adorable kitten who’s about 5 months old (born in August 2018). She was very frightened when she came in from a feral colony and is just beginning to cuddle. Even though she is still shy, she will sit beside her foster person waiting to be petted. She has beautiful black and white markings with 2 white tipped ears. She would love to be adopted with one of her sisters – Willow, Cricket, or Monkey.

Panda is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed rescue.  The adoption donation is $175. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Pickles

Coming to her foster home directly from the Humane Society, Pickles settled in very quickly. She is a beautiful dilute calico about 11 years old and front paw declawed. She meows when she wants you to make your lap available for her to sit on, but prefers not to be picked up. She is very clean and always uses her litter box. She likes to be brushed and enjoys looking out the patio door at the birds and squirrels. Pickles would love to be the only pet in the house and would do best in an adult home. She has stage 3 kidney disease and eats a special diet, takes a supplement, and needs a blood test once or twice a year to monitor her levels. If you would love a nice, calm cat as a companion, Pickles is your girl!

Pickles’ foster reports that she has a very cute habit: In the morning while waiting to be fed, she is SO excited that her tail stands straight up and vibrates while she does a little dance with her hind legs.

You can follow Pickles on instagram at life_with_pickles_

Fuzzy

Fuzzy has been with us a very long time. She was a feral cat that we rescued from a colony. She is 13 years old now. She has adjusted to indoor life well. She has come along very well in her foster home and loves being pet and will just purr and purr while sitting on the couch beside her foster mom. She doesn’t like to be picked up but will allow her foster mom to pet her on her own terms. Fuzzy gets along with cats and dogs. She would prefer a home with another cat so we will be only looking at applications that have other cats for her forever home.

Fuzzy is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed rescue.  The adoption donation is $200. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. Clara

Clara and her brothers, Austin and Bailey, were found as strays by a kind citizen.  She cared enough about them to contact us, and they are now safe and sound in one of our wonderful foster homes.

Clara is 5 years old (as of Jan. 2013), and is black and white, with short hair.  She is very affectionate, playful and friendly.  She gets along well with other cats.

From Clara’s foster mom: Clara is a very low-maintenance, undemanding cat.   She prefers to be pet on the ground, rather than being held or on your lap.  When she is happy, she will roll over and show off her beautiful pure white belly. Clara gets along with other gentle animals.

Clara is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed rescue.  Her adoption donation is $165. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption.
