Ash

HI! I am Ash, brother to Harley and Dash. We are about 9 weeks old (as of Nov. 13). We were rescued from someone’s backyard and happy to be indoors and warm and fed. I am a super sweet, friendly guy that is coming out of my shell more and more everyday. I love to play with my animal friends but love to get my special time together with my human companions for our cuddle time. If you are looking for some quality kitten time, look no further! I would do best in a quiet home with one of my brothers or another cat to keep me company.

Ash is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200 per cat. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Pepper & Sophie

Pepper and Sophie have been adopted together to a lovely family in Mount Forest where they will have 2 canine siblings to keep them company!
Pepper is the calico and Sophie is the brown tabby.

——————————————–

Pepper is a social butterfly with everyone including people. He is a confident little boy and is always curious about everything around him. He loves to play with his sisters and is starting to get along with the foster mom’s cats. He will tell you how eager he is for his canned food. Pepper enjoys playing tag with the foster mom’s Chihuahua. When tagged, Pepper will “surrender” by laying down and exposing his belly up, then bounces back on his feet to play again. Pepper would fit a household that has a calm and quiet dog that plays gently with kittens.

——————————————–

Sophie is a playful and active kitty. She is quickly learning that people are not so bad and that they give nice pets and yummy food. She will need a patient family that will talk softly and move slowly while approaching her as she spooks easily. She is not fond of being picked up and will run away to escape. Sophie would rather be racing around the floor, bouncing off the walls with her siblings or batting around the mice toys. Sophie has a comfort quirk – kneading her bed, purring and suckling on the blanket, mimicking the nursing motion with mum.

Sage

Sage is about 14 weeks old and ready for a forever home. She was found outside as a stray. Her foster mom has been socializing her. She loves the resident dog and is looking for a feline or playful canine to keep her company. She is still timid with new people so an adult home would be best.

Sage is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200 per cat. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Lenny

Lenny is a four month old male who loves to snuggle. He is the definition of “floof” and has the best soft and colourful coat. He is a shy individual but is definitely coming out of his shell in his foster home. He’s very quiet, other than his rumbling purr! He enjoys being under the covers and tucked into bed. Lenny likes playing with foster family’s cats but is currently fearful of dogs. His foster family has had no issue as of yet with any clawing furniture, chewing cords, scratching, biting or any vices. Lenny will make such a great best friend for anyone who is okay with letting him get more confident and fully come out of his shell!

Lenny is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200 per cat. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Jack

Jack is a 7-year old long haired male with huge green eyes. He can be very affectionate, quick to greet visitors and happy to climb onto your knees. He likes to play rough, but is never actually aggressive.
From his appearance he is probably part Maine Coon, but is normal in stature and only occasionally vocalizes. In fact he is a very sedate and quiet cat, who takes a passing interest in wildlife outside the window but is content to spend most of the day sleeping. He comes with a pet carrier and a large cat tree.
Jack will probably flourish in a calm and nurturing home, with sufficient stimulus and where he can gain confidence and develop a strong bond.

Jack is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200 per cat. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Daisy & Shadow

Daisy and Shadow are siblings found as strays and are approximately 16 weeks old.

Shadow is a bouncy and curious boy. At first, he will appear timid, especially when he sees something new, but will quickly warm up and realize that it is not so scary. He is an absolute purr monster. When he locks eyes with you, he purrs instantly even when he’s not being petted. He eats dry kitten kibble and will gobble up his wet food every time as if it were the first meal he’s ever received, then he will also try and steal his sister’s share. He is not choosy and loves to play with all kinds of toys.  He uses his litter box with zero issues. He can make a big mess ensuring that smelly business is 100% covered, but a litter mat will fix that problem! Shadow has a particular way of drinking and likes to test the water bowl with his paw to make sure it’s up to his standards before he laps it up (while making a mess – a food tray is very helpful!). He uses the scratching post and loves to be up on high places. He likes to pounce on and wrestle with his sister.  We would love for him to be adopted with his sister but may consider a home with another young cat for him to play with. Do not apply just for him if you have no other pets. He needs a friend.

Daisy is a lovely, sweet girl that has started to tell foster mom everything about her day with a loud voice. She loves to be held and cuddled and will purr forever in your arms. She is an avid escape artist and is quick to calculate her next move when she sees your hand on the door handle. She is always curious to see where you are going in the house and demands to see what is on the other side of a closed door. As she is easily distracted, she eats kibble and wet food slower than her brother. Foster mom simply brings her back to the food bowl and reminds her that there is still wet food left which she happily digs in – until she gets distracted again and so the cycle continues. Her litter box usage is excellent. She loves using the cat tree and climbing high on it. She loves all kinds of toys as well. Daisy has taken a liking to the Chihuahua, following him around and playing tag. Daisy is a skilled acrobat and her favourite moves to show off are her crazy somersaults. We would love for Daisy to be adopted with her brother Shadow but will consider a home with other friendly pets. Do not apply just for her if you have no other cats/dogs in the home. A pair is always better than one. It is less work as they can occupy each other and keep each other company when you are not home.

Daisy and Shadow are available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200 per cat. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Cheeka

These three siblings were rescued by a kind lady who has been helping the cats at a rural property. Unfortunately, their mother was killed by a dog so they came into rescue at the age of about 4 weeks. They were dehydrated and cold so they needed medical attention as soon as they were found.  All three have been fighting eye infections but these seem to be clearing up.
Thankfully they have made a full recovery and are now happy and thriving. They are now almost 8 weeks old.

Frankie (black and white female) is the leader of the bunch. She is curious and bold and not really afraid of anything. She is also the loudest when she needs attention. She was a little rough in her play when she first arrived but now plays nicely and loves to take on the bigger fosters in the home. We would like for her to be adopted with one of her siblings if possible or to a home that has a young cat she can model and play with.

Cheeka (full tabby female) She is the quietest of the group.  She is reserved and is usually in tow of one of the others.  She is actually the most cuddly with the humans and will snuggle right up in your neck to sleep. Just like Frankie and Theo; we would like for her to be adopted with one of her siblings or go to a home that has a young cat.

Theo (white/tabby male) Theo gets along with everyone.  He has some bold moments and plays well with everyone whether his siblings or the big cats in the home.  He is not really a fan of being held by the humans but will snuggle up with the other animals. Just like Frankie and Cheeka we would like Theo to be adopted with one of his siblings or go to a home that has a young cat.

All three of these guys have been around a large dog and are fine if the dog is respectful.

Cheeka, Theo, and Frankie are available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200 per cat. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Ozzy

Ozzy has been a great foster, and would make an amazing companion. She is beautiful all around! She has a very friendly personality, and loves human company. She warms up to people quickly. She loves to cuddle, and will lay on your lap! She loves to snuggle her head closer. She loves to be pet, but be careful not to touch certain areas she doesn’t like to be touched (she may attempt to scratch, but no worries – she’s declawed).

Ozzy is 11 years old, but still very active and outgoing. To Ozzy, age is just a number! Don’t let the photo fool you, she is a long haired cat that was recently shaved due to matts she had when she came to us.  Her owner passed away and her adult children were going to euthanize her as she was having an issue with the litter box in their home but turns out it was due to being overweight and matted and possibly stressed.  She was surrendered to our vet clinic and we were able to save her. Her bloodwork was all clear and since being in her foster home she has had no issues. She is on a good diet, her matts are gone and she is a happy girl.  She hopes to find her forever home soon! She would like to be the only cat in an adult home. If you have some room in your heart and some love to give, Ozzy is your girl!

Ozzy is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Pierre

They call me Pierre. I am about three years old. I lost my family and no one claimed me. I was outside wandering for a  while when I landed on the front step of a nice foster lady. She started giving me cool water and food which I really appreciated. It was really hot out! She took me in and and we became close friends very quickly. I love lots of pets and scratches and very much enjoy cuddling. There are others cats and dogs in the house and we were instant friends. My foster mom says I am a good boy because I always use my litter box. I love the wet and dry food that I get every day and I really like to curl up in the cat bed. It’s very cozy. Because my family is lost and no one is able to find them, I have been put up for adoption to give me another chance with a real family. If you want to meet me and hang out, contact Grand River Rescue at www.grand River rescue.ca.

Pierre is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Mango

Meet Mango!

Mango was found on the centre line of a busy country road in the middle of a thunderstorm. He was wet, cold, dirty and terrified and weighed a mere 200 grams.  Over the past four weeks, Mango has grown and developed into a curious, fun loving kitten who loves to cuddle.  He is now about 8 weeks old ( as of July 29th) He loves to chase his ball and will playfully run and wrestle with his foster family.  Mango is generally a quiet kitty and sleeps well through the night.  He uses his litter box reliably and will even head to a different floor of the house to use his box at only 8 weeks old!

Looking at Mango now you would never know of his rough start.  He has a beautiful orange coat with the most unique striping on his back and big curious eyes.  He is affectionate and loves to cuddle with and groom his foster family snuggling up closely under their necks. Mango is the perfect combination of sweet and spunky!  If you would like to give Mango a forever home please apply!

Mango is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Luna & Poppy

This is Luna and Poppy. They are two of the trio rescued from outdoors. Luna is a little shy like his brother, Poppy, but is still playful and cuddly. They would like to be adopted together or with their sibling Piper, or to a home with another young cat.

Luna and Poppy are available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200 per cat. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Piper

This is Piper. She is about 12 weeks old (as of July 6, 2021). Piper was found with her 2 siblings born to a feral mom and some kind people rescued the trio and called the rescue. The kittens were socialized and have seen a vet. Piper is friendly and playful. She is not a bit shy and greets everyone with lots of purring. She has beautiful black fur with a gray undercoat that shows off her tabby markings. She would do well in a home with other animals or kids and would like another playful kitty in the home or to be adopted with one of her brothers – Luna and Poppy.

Piper is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Teddy & Gizmo

They are a brother / sister pair. Very sweet 8 year old cats. Both are fixed and are good for having their nails trimmed.  The male is Teddy. Sweetest cuddle bug and would make some senior or even child very happy. The female is Gizmo and while a little unsure of new things, she does enjoy her cuddles- when she wants them. They both liked to be brushed. Litter trained. Teddy will probably hide for a couple days in his new home but will be the love of his new persons life. Teddy and Gizmo are bonded and must be adopted together. Their adoption fee is reduced to make that happen. They are an owner surrender due to a move out of province. Please apply if interested.

Teddy and Gizmo are available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Theo & Frankie

These three siblings were rescued by a kind lady who has been helping the cats at a rural property. Unfortunately, their mother was killed by a dog so they came into rescue at the age of about 4 weeks. They were dehydrated and cold so they needed medical attention as soon as they were found.  All three have been fighting eye infections but these seem to be clearing up.

Just like Frankie and Cheeka we would like Theo to be adopted with one of his siblings or go to a home that has a young cat.

All three of these guys have been around a large dog and are fine if the dog is respectful.

Theo, and Frankie are available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200 per cat. Ivan & Snickers

Meet Ivan and Snickers. This approximately 8 week old (as of June 18) brother and sister duo are best friends and must be adopted together. In the beginning Snickers was the most outgoing and rambunctious of the two, but as time has progressed, Ivan has learned to trust and joins right in. Both kittens enjoy being handled and will reward you with lots of purring and snuggles. They both love to eat their wet food and will now eat dry as well. They use the litter box consistently. Both kittens love to play – they will chase anything that moves including the dogs’ tails! They love it when people are near. They like to use them as their own personal jungle gym. Both kittens are already using a scratching post and love to climb the cat tree. They are quiet kittens except at meal time – then they will let you know that the bowl is empty! After a good long play and wrestle with each other, you will find them curled up together in their cat bed. They are currently living with adult cats and two respectful dogs with no issues. Both kittens will be vetted and have received their first set of shots and deworming before adoption and the spay and microchip is included in the adoption fee.

Ivan and Snickers are available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200 per cat. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Dora

Dora is 9-10 years old and needs a foster home urgently. Her owner has passed away suddenly and she needs a new home. She is friendly and curious of new people. Not sure about other pets as she has always been a single cat. She has always lived with a senior. She is an indoor, healthy cat and her front paws are declawed.

Willy is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200 per cat. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Willy

Willy is a friendly, 3 year old indoor cat. He was surrendered because his owner passed away. He came from a home that had multiple cats and dogs but always hid. He is currently an only animal and comes out quite often to visit his foster mom. He is still very shy and easily spooked. He likes to be pet and LOVES to play with toys. Like most cats he comes to you when he wants affection on his terms.

He is good with his litter and is a clean cat. Willy likes hard food. He sleeps on the bottom of the bed at night. He is not declawed but he doesn’t scratch on furniture. He would like a quiet adult home where he can feel safe and secure. Other calm cats may be fine.

Emi

Emi is 8 years old; she could benefit to lose some weight-she is fairly sedentary and is an indoor only cat.

She loves to cuddle on the couch and in bed. She loves attention and to have someone pet her. She loves belly rubs. She would love to curl up on someone’s lap all day long. She loves to be brushed, doesn’t mind having her nails cut and she’s not aggressive. She uses her litter box without any issue.

She’s not picky with food, she eats dry food and loves wet food too.
She does experience stress induced seizures from time to time. She’s not on medication for this because there’s no pattern to them. They are completely random and so we usually try to keep her environment very calm. She likes quiet. Her future owner would need to be comfortable with seeing an animal have a seizure. It’s important to remain calm and allow them to come out of it and then of course give them love and affection afterwards.

Emi is an amazing cat who would love a quiet home. She is not a fan of dogs and hasn’t lived with other cats in many years but may be able to again with the right match.

Emi is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200 per cat. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Aurora & Sakura

Aurora (white, grey and black) She is active, playful and loving. She is super affectionate, loves to cuddle up next to you. She enjoys being pet and receiving back scratches. She likes to sleep under the blankets in bed, but will sleep on her own as well.

Sakura (brown and black) She is very shy at first, but warms up to anyone with time. One of the sweetest cats I have met as she requires nothing but love. She is not a fan of dogs. She is also super affectionate and will never stop you from endless pets and scratches. Sakura was once a homeles cat, when she was rescued she had a very bad ear infection which left her with a permanent head tilt (it is super cute though).

These girls are a bonded couple. They MUST go together, as they love each other’s company. They enjoy playing, cuddling, and watching birds & squirrels together. They are both very affectionate, that includes tons of head buts and rubbing against your legs. They are around age 6 now. They are spayed, declawed (front). They are being surrendered due to a child’s allergy in the home.

Aurora and Sakura are available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200 per cat. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Talie

Name: Talie
Sex: Male
Breed: Jindo
Age: Approx. 5 years
Location: Wellington Region (Outside of Guelph, ON)
Weight: Approx. 40 lbs
Vaccinations: UTD + Microchipped + Neutered
Tested with: Dogs & Children
Home requirements: Children 7+, Dogs 35 lbs +, fenced backyard, Adopter with experience / willing to work with trainer.

Talie is a very special boy. He was rescued from extreme conditions and is having trouble adjusting to being a happy dog. In the three years with his foster, he has come a long way. However, he still needs a lot of patience and experience to bring him into the dog he could be. Talie will always be a shy boy, so if you are looking for a dog that will turn into an outgoing, cuddly family pet then Talie is not the one for you. He is extremely nervous and will take a lot of time, patience and work to adjust to a new home and grow from that point.

He is good with other dogs but can please rough and needs to work on his manners. At this point, he would be better suited to a house with other medium to large dogs. He has not been cat tested. The foster family that Talie has been living with has a child that was only 10 when they took him in and he has interacted with young children. He is very calm with them. However, it is best for him to be in a home with children 7+.

Talie loves to play outside. Especially with other dogs, that is where you see his personality shine, but he will need work on his basic skills: come, sit, stay and walking on a leash all need to be taught. He is a very playful boy when outside and loves to chase a ball. Inside, he is a very easy keeper. He does not have food aggression and spend most of his time inside the crate.

Talie is available for adoption together through Grand River All Breed rescue. The adoption donation is $400. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Tye & Civic

Tye is a sweet boy who is about 1.5 years old.

Tye came into our rescue back in August. He was caught on a rural property by a kind lady. He was emaciated and was suffering from a very bad lice infestation.

He had the typical ailments of a kitty that has been living outdoors with sneezing.

As the months have gone on Tye has put on some much-needed weight but he is still small in stature.

He is very loving and will come up and give head butts and kisses. He loves to snuggle right up on your neck. His latest trick is to sleep with his head on his foster mom’s head.

He is very playful and has learned to get along well with the resident cat and dog. He will make a game of just about anything, including chasing the dog’s tail. He gets along well with the resident cat and they have learned to play nicely together. He also doesn’t mind the dog and would do well with a respectful dog. He loves the action of a busy household so would be suited to a home with children preferably older than 10 as sometimes he will bite during play.

Tye continues to have sneezing episodes and still has a runny nose and often times he still has mucous that comes out when he sneezes. He sounds like he is constantly stuffed up but he doesn’t let that slow him down.

We have tried many different medications to try and resolve this for him and we have also visited an internist veterinarian. Tye would require a very expensive exploratory surgery to figure out what may be the underlying cause of the congestion and our rescue just doesn’t have the funds to do this for him. The vet’s best guess is feline herpes at this point which is something cats can live long normal lives with.

We are hoping to find a home for him that will accept him and give him the forever home he needs.

Tye is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200 per cat. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Bella

Bella is a ~ 9 year old female spayed DSH. While a bit shy at first, Bella is quick to warm up to people and absolutely loves cuddles + attention.

Bella is seeking a quiet home. She will likely do best in a home without young kids. Bella is currently living in a foster home with dogs and seems to tolerate them well. She does not seem to like the presence of other cats.

Bella is a diabetic, which means she requires twice daily insulin injections and needs to be fed a special veterinary prescribed diet.

Bella is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $200 per cat. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Ozzy

Approximately two years old, this handsome short-haired ginger tabby with a white waistcoat and belly was rescued from a pound in Oxford County. He has been named Ozzy, short for the Mohawk name Ohserase, and is a hugely affectionate and good-natured cat. He craves affection and would probably settle well in a busy home with lots of stimulation. He has not been with other pets during fostering, so it’s not known how he might interact with other animals.

Ozzy is very vocal, sometimes practices ‘kneading’ and always follows you round the house. Morning is marked by him standing on your chest to remind you of feeding time!

Ozzy went through vaccination during fostering without problems and is booked for neutering on February 5th.

Ozzy is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $175 per cat. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Alaska & Georgia

Alaska is approximately 8 weeks old.  She is a shy kitten that has adapted well to living inside with her mom and three siblings.  She eats and drinks well, uses the litter box and loves to play with all of the toys.  She would do well with her sister Georgia or her Mom-Virginia as they are all on the quiet side and enjoy each other’s company.  She is startled by unfamiliar noises and will run and hide in the cat tree – waiting for her litter mates to be the brave ones and check it out for her.

Alaska & Georgia are available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $175 per cat. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Arctic & Dakota

Dakota is a white and tabby male kitten about 8 weeks of age. He is the only male in a litter of four. He is a true big brother as he is the bravest of the litter. He loves to play with anything that moves especially balls and feather toys. Dakota loves his sisters especially Nevada (tabby). They often play and wrestle together. Dakota eats very well and uses the litter box consistently. He is a very handsome boy looking for his forever home.

Arctic and Dakota are available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $175 per cat. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Uma

This beautiful girl is approximately 4 years old, needs a fur-ever home! Her eyes are a gorgeous green, and her coat is a mix of tabby and dilute calico; she is a stunner!

Uma was on the streets for a couple years, “porch surfing” around the neighbourhood. She was finally taken in and is now adjusting to home life. She is completely litterbox trained.

Uma is sweet, with a little bit of spice! She chirps to greet you when you walk in the room, likes to be near you and will rub up against you, but she enjoys only minimal petting. She isn’t afraid to tell you off when she’s had enough, so you have to be mindful of her limits. She seems to get more comfortable in time though, as you earn her trust. She absolutely loves when you play with her using wand toys, and does a great “wiggle bum and pounce”!

Uma is an independent lady! She would make a great companion for someone who works long hours, as she isn’t considered needy and is quite content to sleep by the window most of the day. When you return home, she will be sure to greet you, give you a little bit of love, and just enjoy being in your presence.

So far Uma isn’t fond of the other pets in her foster home. We feel she would be best suited in an 18+ home, as the only pet.We are looking for an indoor home for her.

Charlie

Charlie is a 2 year old neutered male. He is very affectionate, loves to cuddle. He loves to play & be brushed. He loves his cat tower while looking out the window. He will meow when he wants something. He follows his foster mom everywhere even to the bathroom, he’s like a little shadow. He is an indoor cat only, he doesn’t like children & we are uncertain about other animals. He’s shy at first but then wants all the loving he can get. When he’s told it’s bedtime he races to the bedroom for a last play session, loves to tackle things moving under blankets. Charlie is very clean & litter box trained.

Charlie would be a good fit for a home quiet home but someone who will give lots of cuddles and play time.  He is shy with new people and will not come out for anyone but his person. He was an owner surrender due to small children in the home and Charlie not being a fan.

All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. Hamilton

Hamilton aka Ham, aka Hammy Vanderbilt the 3rd

Hammy is a very sweet but shy, blind male rat. He is looking for some friends to cuddle with and play. He loves chewing all things wood and his favourite foods are cheerios and baby carrots. When he first arrived, he was overweight and had some skin problems. With a proper rat food, and fresh veg and water, he is slimming down, and his skin problems have completely cleared up. He is getting more comfortable being handled each day and comes to greet his foster mom every morning for treats and scratches.

Hamilton is neutered and would do best with other neutered male rats or with female rats. He will need slow introductions and patience as he settles into a new home. Hammy is friendly and interested in his foster brother, Teddy, but sadly for him, Teddy is not in the market for a permanent brother!

Hamilton is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $30 per rat. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. You can also reach us by email at GrandRiverRescue@hotmail.com.

Dimitri

Dimitri is 6 years old. He is very handsome and likes to keep his fur clean and tidy. He loves being pet on his back and sometimes even on his belly. Once a day he likes to chase his small toy mouse on a string and invites other family members to play with him. The other times during the day, he likes to enjoy some quiet time and will either watch out of the window or hide somewhere.

At night he likes to be close to his family in the same room, sometimes even on the same bed. Dimitri would fit in most households, but the best fit would probably be a family with children who could pet him but still allow him for many hours of quiet time. He is fully litter box trained. He has lived with 4 other cats and a dog previously. He was surrendered due to a crisis in the home.  He is an indoor only cat.

Dimitri is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue.  The adoption donation is $175. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. Clifford

My name is Clifford and I am a 1.5-year-old (approx.) Presa Canario mix! Sadly, I’ve seen my fair share of homes. I’ve been in 7 in my short lifetime and I hope to make the next my last. I came to GRAB as an urgent owner surrender and in poor condition. I was underweight, dirty, and terrified to be changing homes in the middle of the night.

Since arriving at my foster home, I have put on some weight and am sitting at about 120lbs. I am a big boy and still young and immature, so training efforts have been focused on basic manners so I don’t knock anybody over or hurt them accidentally. I am making great progress and can greet my foster family in a (mostly) calm manner at the front door when they get home – even though it is difficult because it’s still one of the greatest parts of my day!

I lived with another dog in my foster home, who recently passed away, and we got along very well! I learned to take physical and verbal cues from her on gentle playing and boundaries. Although I miss her dearly, a home with another dog is not necessary – my people are more important to me. In my foster home, we also have rabbits. They don’t bother me in their house (sometimes I try and sneak hay to eat), but I need supervision when they are out and about because I am naturally curious about them. I have also lived with cats in the past (as per the previous owner).

While my foster parents are at school and work, I am allowed free range of the house. I had been used to a crate at one point in my life, but they aren’t my favourite and I am well behaved on my own so I don’t use one anymore. At home, you can find me anywhere my people are. I love curling up on the couch with them to cuddle, or nearby in my bed while we watch TV. I help supervise the cooking and am great at picking up crumbs and food dropped on the floor. I am very food driven, so if you don’t want anything eaten, please don’t leave it out to tempt me. At night, I am quite comfortable to curl up at the foot of the bed to sleep.

One of my favourite things to do is play fetch. A nice sized backyard would be preferred to be able to run off-leash and play, as being outside is also a favourite of mine (especially in the snow!). I walk well on a leash (with a harness) and am rarely interested in others around me – I just want to explore – but I can be leery around some strangers, so training and gaining confidence and trust in new people is a must. I need walks of about 45-60 minutes a day to keep my mind fresh and release any extra energy. I LOVE durable rubber toys and antler chews to play with, but I have issues with resource guarding valuable toys and my food, so a safe distance and training is still needed in this area.

Even though I am great with the adults that I know in my home, I am very nervous around new people and will require an experienced and confident owner to work with me (and a positive reinforcement trainer) to overcome this. Because of my uneasiness, a quiet and controlled environment at home, with no children, is required.

Clifford is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed rescue.  The adoption donation is $400. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. Kali

Kali is a gorgeous and petite shorthaired tabby who was born on April 2, 2009.

From Kali’s foster mom:

She is a spayed, short haired, silver tabby with a sweet temperament. She loves affection, will sit with you to be petted and sometimes enjoys it so much that she drools a bit. She is really a gentle soul. Likes to play, likes being at the top of the cat tree, she can be a real chatty girl sometimes – like when she hasn’t seen you in awhile.

She doesn’t get along well with other cats but would be an excellent only cat or perhaps with the right dog. She eats mostly urinary control food, but I think her problem is mainly stress related from harassment by the other cats. Throughout, she has been very good using the litterbox.

Kali is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed rescue.  The adoption donation is $175. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption.
